Terms of Sale
We typically sell most of our kids, in order to maintain our current herd size; however, we do reserve the right to retain any animal in our herd. All bucks and bucklings are sold with an agreement that we may purchase up to 20 straws of semen at collection cost and that you refrain from marketing his semen until his daughters have been evaluated in milk.
As a member of the American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA), we follow the recommended trade practices of the ADGA's current Guide Book, Section XIX.
Reservations
To reserve a future kid, a $50 nonrefundable deposit is required. Reservations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Sale prices quoted for reserving future kids are not guaranteed for same kids later born unreserved. We will notify you as soon as your reserved kid is born and discuss final sale arrangements. In the event that the kid you ordered is not born or is not the quality we intended to sell, the deposit will be refunded or can be retained for another choice or for the following kidding season.Forms of Payment
By sending payment, you are confirming that you have read and agree to our Terms of Sale. If you plan to make a payment, we ask that you please Contact us first. We are a small, family farm and prefer to speak directly with our potential customers. Prior to any money being exchanged, we will confirm goat availability, price, and other transaction details, in order to avoid any errors or confusion. Depending on how you prefer to send in your payment, we offer the following payment options:
Money order, cashier's or personal check*
Pay in Person - Cash, and partial trade on occasion
* We reserve the right to charge a fee for returned checks and do not accept checks at time of pick up.
Pick Up & Delivery
Kids are available for pick up no earlier than 2 weeks of age and no later than 2 weeks after weaning (approx. 15 weeks old). Kids that have not been picked up by 2 weeks after weaning will begin to accrue a weekly boarding fee. Ideally, we ask that you pick up your kids between 2 to 4 weeks of age.We prefer that you pick up your goat in person. Since this isn't always feasible, we offer two alternatives: local delivery and airline shipping. Local delivery is sometimes available, given advanced notice and some restrictions apply. Currently, we will deliver goats up to 50 miles away with the buyer responsible for the price of gas. Airline shipping is also available with prior arrangements. We prefer to ship kids between 4 to 6 weeks of age out of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). If you think you may require local delivery or airline shipping, please let us know ASAP so we can begin to make arrangements and discuss the additional cost involved.
Final Sale & Registration
The buyer is responsible for the sale price of the goat as well as all ADGA fees. If applicable, the buyer is also responsible for the cost associated with any additional boarding fees, health certifications, and shipping/delivery charges.Effective July 1, 2006, ALL GOATS will be registered with the ADGA and tattooed in their right and left ears for identification; this is in accordance with the Kentucky state Scrapie ID program.
At the time of sale, we will fill out/submit the Registration/Transfer of Ownership paperwork to the ADGA. For new kids or previously unregistered goats, we typically allow the buyer the option to choose the registered name of the goat, limited to a total of 30 letters and spaces. Only our herd name, N. KY WINDYACRES , is required as the prefix in the name. NOTE: Since it uses 17, that leaves only 13 letters and spaces for the rest of the name. The buyer will receive copies of all paperwork submitted at the time of sale. Upon confirmation and approval of the Registration/Transfer of Ownership paperwork, the will issue a Cerfiticate of Registry.
Effective May 12, 2006, wethers are identified with the ADGA by submitting an Application for Wether Certification. Wethers cannot be "registered" and instead will be given a Certificate of Identification that states no pedigree is kept or implied.
